Is there a difference between
“Therapeutic” and “Relaxation” massage?

Massage, itself, is a very subjective experience. One person’s idea of “relaxation” may be another person’s idea of “therapeutic”, and the most effective massage may be an integration of both. Additionally, some clients prefer light touch while others request very firm pressure to break up deep tension in the muscles. Our therapists will address your specific concerns and create a session plan based on your desired goals.

The term “therapeutic massage” may also be applied to massage work for special health conditions such as Fibromyalgia, cancer, and chronic pain. Massage therapy may be one of the best companion treatments for many such conditions. If you are actively under the care of a physician, ask if massage therapy would be indicated to help you address your condition.

All massage is provided by North Carolina Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapists.

Bowen

Bowenwork® is a gentle and effective bodywork therapy that balances tension patterns in the body, creating a state of deep relaxation and renewing the body’s capacity for self-healing. A gentle therapy, it is appropriate for everyone, including babies and the elderly.
Bowenwork® addresses the body as a whole. If affects not only the musculoskeletal system but also the fascia, nerves and internal organs. It can assist recovery from many conditions:

  • Traumatic injuries
  • Overuse injuries
  • Stress & Fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Fertility Issues
  • TMJ
  • High/Low Blood Pressure
  • Arthritic Pain
  • Insomnia
  • ADD/ADHD

It’s recommended to have at least 3 sessions one week apart for most injuries. Those with more complex conditions usually improve with additional sessions. Other chronic conditions may require ongoing maintenance.

Clients should wear thin, cotton clothing. Nothing too skin tight.
